This Week at City HallAt their meeting on Wednesday, executive committee confirmed that they oppose the RM’s latest development plans for the edge of the city — among the most prominent of these is a plan to build a tire plant on the outskirts of Regina. And even though the city removed their objection to one of the RM’s redevelopment projects, based on what I was hearing on the CBC this morning, the rhetoric between the city and the RM is heating up and it’ll be up to the province to decide how to resolve this dispute.

We’ll hear more about this on Monday when council gets together for their first real meeting.

Also at their Wednesday meeting, exec committee sorted out what committees and boards each councillor will be sitting on. After the jump, I’ll run through the list.

Bracketed numbers indicate the total number of meetings each councillor can be expected to attend in 2013 based on the number of meetings each committee held in 2011. (I used 2011 because I could find a good list of committee meetings for 2012.) These numbers don’t include the 17 or so executive committee meetings councillors are expected to attend. And where there’s a “+?”, that means I wasn’t able to find a number of meetings for one or more of the committees the councillor has signed up for. Usually, that’s because the committee is new. Or because I just missed something.

And finally, as an extra special bonus, here’s the list of 2013 council meetings… you know, so you can write them on your calendar.
