Love David Bowie and free music? Have I got a deal for you. Paper Bag Records have posted a complimentary tribute album to Bowie’s best disc, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, performed entirely by bands from the Toronto label’s roster. All for the low, low cost of your e-mail address. Check it out.

What can you expect to hear? Some versions are more respectful to the source material, like the Born Ruffians version of “Five Years” that opens things. Some take some liberties, like Young Galaxy’s electronic twist on “Hang on to Yourself”.

My favourite of the bunch is Cuff the Duke’s “Star”, and while I’m mentioning that band, I may as well tell you they’re coming through Regina on Saturday, October 6 at the Exchange. Worth going to.
