"Alien sad."

“Alien sad.”

Terrible day for the artistically inclined. Swiss designer H.R. Giger, better known for the creature that terrorized the crew of the Nostromo in Alien, died today from injuries sustained in a fall. While the acid-spouting extraterrestrial made him famous, it’s barely the tip of four decades of work.

Unlike the prolific Giger, documentary filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul only made one movie, the Oscar winner Searching for Sugar Man. Bendjelloul was found dead in his apartment in Sweden in circumstances still not made public. Bendjelloul singlehandedly resuscitated the career of folk singer Rodriguez.
