The Republicans really are in trouble. Last night I found out, through my sister, that my 81-year-old aunt voted for Barack Obama. That in itself isn’t stunning — she’s voted for both Democrats and Republicans in her life. What’s surprising is why she voted for Obama. Apparently, she was furious at the Republicans for their non-stop creepiness about rape. She also thought their position on same-sex marriage was ridiculous, telling my sister “they need to change with the times”.
My aunt voted for George W. Bush in 2004. George “mission accomplished” Bush!
When an allegedly conservative political party’s freaky social positions cost it the Bush-supporting, Caucasian, successfully retired real estate agent senior’s vote, it has a huge, huge, huge problem.
