With the U.S. election approaching, same sex marriage remains a hot-button issue in that country. The right that gays and lesbians are struggling to attain isn’t just a matter of them being able to live together, it also involves a host of legal, financial and other rights that society accords to those who meet the traditional definition of a married couple.
Screening at the RPL Theatre tonight and Friday at 7 p.m. is a film by American Patrick Wang that explores that territory through the dilemma of a man who is threatened with losing the child he and his male partner have been raising when the latter is killed in a car accident. Here’s the trailer:
