I’m not sure, does Canada still exist — as an independent country, that is, as opposed to a protectorate of the United States with a vast storehouse of natural resources that our corporate overlords are chomping at the bit to sell to an insatiable American market?

Which is fine, if that’s the future Canadians want. But if we’re going to surrender our sovereignty like that we should probably dispense with stuff like Canada Day. We can just celebrate with our American cousins on their national day — July 4.  It’s a way better par-tay anyway.

But for die-hards out there, there are Canada Day celebrations happening today. In Regina, most of the action will be centred in Wascana Centre. For more info visit www.reginacanadaday.ca
