If ESG‘s 1982 single “Dance to the Beat of Moody” sounds familiar, it should.
The three Scroggins sisters, who went by Emerald, Sapphire & Gold onstage, have been influencing punk, hip hop and house music for 30 years. You can hear their rhythms and beats in everyone from TLC to Unrest. So much so that in 1992 they put out an EP called Sample Credits Don’t Pay Our Bills.
Last week, Fire Records released a 32-track collection called Dance to the Best of ESG.
