If you’ve checked out our June 3 issue, either in print or on-line, you’ve perhaps read James Brotheridge’s preview of this gig with Ontario-based hip hop artist Shad. He’s at the Exchange tonight backed up by fellow rapper Grand Analogue. Here’s a link to Jame’s article. And for a bit pre-concert prep, here’s the video for Shad’s tune “The Old Prince Still Lives at Home” off his 2007 Polaris Prize nominated album The Old Prince.

Starting tomorrow night at the Performing Arts Centre, meanwhile, is the final play in Regina Little Theatre’s 2009-10 season. I’m not sure how many discrepancies there are between the stage version of Steel Magnolias and the Hollywood version via the blockbuster 1989 movie that starred a veritable who’s who of prominent female performers. Usually Hollywood takes a few liberties to, in the minds of big-shot producers and directors anyway, spice things up a bit.

Regardless, to give you a sense of what the play’s about, here’s the trailer for the movie (YouTube) It runs June 9-10 at 7:30 p.m. and June 11-12 at 8 p.m. (Tix are Adult $19, Students & Seniors $17. 779-2277).
