Wisconsin Kills Union Rights

Ridiculous. Time for an honest to God, old-school, bus-in-thousands-of-supporters-and-raise- (non-violent) hell general strike. Then, there needs to be a recall campaign against sociopath governor Scott Walker. Then, the Wisconsin Republican party needs to be destroyed–not quite clear on how one does that but it needs to happen. This is insane.

Here’s the story in the Madison alt-weekly, the Isthmus. Here’s the BBC’s story, if you’d like that. Want to help? Here’s a website to help you send donations and buy solidarity merch.

This thing is going to explode.

  1. It’s clear leftwingers, liberals, and moderates occupy the left to centre-right all across North America, while hardcore, uncompromising, ideological wingnuts are on the right…in Wisconsin, Ottawa, the House in Washington, other states across America.

People con/lull themselves into thinking, “oh, politics as usual…” but this really is like the 1930s German experience march towards Fascism: a combination of misplaced, out of place rage and, for the most part, complacency born of the disbelief that anything “really bad” could possibly be perpetrated by a democratic government.

Now, for all the predictable eye-rollers, a slide into Fascism does not necessarily equal the prelude to World War and mass extinction (holocaust) of a people, but it does predict an expansion of state powers solely in the favour of corporate interests and dismissal of the rights of the people (except when the corporation is a person).
