Typo Wiener: Leader-Post Edition

StarsLottery(typo)The above ad ran on page A-10 of Friday’s Leader-Post. Can anyone spot the typo?

  1. I love spotting typos but I can’t find this one! (I hope you don’t mean the different ticket prices as one’s for the draw and other is for the 50/50.)

  2. As a member of the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for the Province of Saskatchewan, I do not agree with the recommendations outlined in the report being filed by my fellow commission members, Mr. Justice Ronald Mills and Dr. John Courtney, and am therefore filing this dissenting report.

I strongly disagree with the proposed electoral boundary changes. Our commission had heard from many residents, city councillors and business leaders from Regina and Saskatoon of their concerns about both cities losing elected representation. These are community leaders who, I believe, know more of what is best for their communities than the commission.

With such drastic changes in all of the ridings, I am very concerned about voter apathy. There will be voter confusion in the next election and possibly in the election after that. At a time when it is difficult to encourage voter turnout, changing the boundaries so drastically and causing voter confusion will only diminish that turnout.

  3. In fairness to the L-P, the “Merit” error originates with the STARS lottery and appears on their website as well.

  4. What the heck are you posting Talbot? What does this have to with finding a typo?

I can’t find the typo, unless it’s missing www. at the beginning of the starslotterysaskatchewan.ca?

  5. Ahh, I see — the name. A tough typo to see if you’re unfamiliar with all the characters. Good eye, Fred (and Gregory.)

Mr. or Ms Fresh, Jr.: when you copy and paste someone’s* exact quote, it’s proper etiquette to cite your source and not take credit for it:

(On the assumption “Talbot Fresh, Jr.” is not David Marit’s nickname.)

  6. Amen to that, Not so keen eye; for a moment there, I thought some spammer had hijacked Talbot.

  7. Oh right, you caught me: Plagiarism. I plagiarized that entire statement and pretended to be a member on the boundaries commission as well. I would never have written that statement, of course, as I believe it is absurd and an insult to decent people everywhere. Chill out.

  8. I don’t know the guy ,if his name is Marit or not.
I’m going with “in many lives” shouldn’t it be ; to many lives?

  9. That was an abstract expression of whom I believe Monsieur Marit to be.
