Grease debuted as a musical on Broadway in 1971, and was turned into a hit Hollywood film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in 1978. The latter is still watchable, I imagine, while the former is still being mounted on stages around the world.

In typical Hollywood fashion, the success of Grease inspired Paramount to make a sequel in 1982. Grease 2 starred a young Michelle Pfeifer, who went on to bigger and better things, and Maxwell Caulfield, who didn’t, and was a box office bomb.

Tonight, as part of Jayden Pfeifer’s (no relation to Michelle, I presume) Talkies series, Grease 2 will be sliced and diced with witty repartee from the host and other contributors. The screening is being held at the RPL Theatre at 7 p.m., and is free with a donation to the food bank.

To give you a sense of the comic delights that await, here’s the trailer for Grease II:
