Six In The Morning: The Icicle Dies At Midnight

Six!1 HIS PENMANSHIP WAS ATROCIOUS The Saskatchewan scientist at the centre of a conflict of interest situation tells CBC, “”Yes, mea culpa. I didn’t do the proverbial dotting of i’s and crossing of t’s during this process and so I realize that it looks bad.” Story here.

2 CITY COUNCIL IS SERIOUS ABOUT THIS HOUSING CRISIS There’s a draft strategy before council. Hey, remember the Black building? when the same anti- housing crisis city councillors voted to allow the demolition of the Black Building, which had a bunch of affordable rental suites, and then they all pretended they had no choice? When the City talks about fixing the housing crisis, this is what I see:

Regina housing strategy in action!

3 MORE ON FLANAGAN “Dr. Tom Flanagan’s bozo eruption was as sensational as that Russian meteorite — a flash of light, a big noise, and shattered glass all over the political landscape.” Ha ha ha ha ha! How can you not read this Calgary Herald column?  I don’t get why the phrase “distinguished career” is in the headline, though. Doesn’t reflect the content of the article. Probably goes to show how much respect his libertarian nonsense has in some corners of the Herald’s offices. Also, if you’re not Flanaganed-out, here’s a Canadian Press story on his apology.

4 YOU’RE GOING DOWN, GIANT ICICLE That thing has got to go, says the Saskatoon fire department.

5 A CREEPY, CYNICAL AND MAYBE KINDA RACIST POLITICAL SCANDAL IS BREWING IN BC British Columbia’s Liberal premier apologized for a leaked document that detailed plans to win ethnic votes. Looks like senior Liberals were involved. Premier Christy Clark has launched a review. One big question: was public money used for political purposes? Because that’s a huge no-no.

6 DOUCHY IRISH DOUCHES ATTACK WOMEN’S RIGHTS Northern Irish politicians want to outlaw Belfast’s only abortion clinic. Also, Belfast has an abortion clinic? I had no idea. When I think about Ireland (north AND south) and abortions, I remember Savita Halappanavar, who was murdered at a Galway hospital last year.

BONUS: HAPPY SEQUESTERDAY! God, America is so fucked.

  1. Tom’s “god like” status had all Calgarians bamboozzeled by his “near & dear” to harpo stature. ” just photos”.

In #yyc ,”Shot down in Flames” just became more relevant.

  2. 3) On the positive side, it took alot of guts for Dr. Flanagan to say something stupid.
On the negative side, stupidity comes with a huge price.

    6) Ireland has way too much controversy and letting religious values get in the way of medical situations.
Abortion maybe evil, but it needs to be available no matter what.
