Here’s a link to a report on Riderville.com that with training camp set to start this weekend, the Riders have released veteran fullback/and first term Regina City Councillor Chris Szarka (pictured).
With the addition of Graeme Bell from the Edmonton Eskimos in the off-season, along with hold overs Neal Hughes and Stu Foord, and rookie Canadian back Kyle Exume from Bishop’s University, the Riders are well-stocked with Canadian talent at that position. And with Szarka, at age 36, in the twilight of his football career, the move makes sense.
A sweet career in real estate no doubt awaits.
Thanks Chris for all the good memories. Your jersey will be worn by many for years to come.
On the other hand, forced retirement from a sport like football can have an upside. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_qKhdV3SQ8
Wouldn’t that be cool if he signed with Hamilton?
