Plaza Report: March 13, 1:04 PM

Here’s a shot of the plaza taken just after the lunch hour. I’m standing on the melting skating rink, facing west. There aren’t very many people on the rink let alone the plaza. No cars, either. Also, I note that the classy white and green trim wooden shack has been removed. It was still there Sunday but it’s not there now.

Those are my observations.

  1. Suggestion to fill the plaza: turn the skating rink and some of the low parts of the road into a pond. Then the geese will move in. It may become unwalkable but it will be inhabited.

  2. Yesterday was the first time I noticed there was a skating rink in the “plaza”. The city did a terrible job of publicizing it. I sent for a walk downtown yesterday – there were more people walking on Scarth/Lorne, and sitting in Victoria park than the benches on the plaza. And I watched a car try to drive down it.
