Pick of the Day (Tomorrow Edition): YWCA Women of Distinction Gala

For 30 years the YWCA has been presenting these awards. Some of the past winners in the different categories, which range from the arts and sciences to business and health, are quite well-known in Regina. Many others, though, would not be well-known.

That’s the magic of the awards, in my mind, in that they recognize a lot of unsung heroes in our community who, through their dedication to a cause or organization, work to make our city a better place.

The 2012 Gala goes Thursday at Conexus Arts Centre at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $100, and can be obtained by calling 525-2141. For more information and a list of nominees, you can also visit the YWCA website.
