Mozart was pretty rad. If he was in the music biz today he’d probably bill himself a little differently — maybe something like Moz Def if he was into hip hop, or Wolfie M if he went the German techno route. But Mozart lived in the 18th century, and his passion was classical music, so he was known by his full given name “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart” or “Mozart” for short.
Mozart was a child prodigy, who was composing symphonies by the age of five. But after living a life of manic productivity in which he wrote many symphonies and operas that are regarded as masterworks he died at a tragically young age.
As far as life stories go, Mozart’s is pretty legendary. And at today’s Kids Concert the Regina Symphony Orchestra will showcase his music in The Mozart Experience. The symphonic tale concerns a mischievious street musician who finds herself playing the role of Mozart. It’s a production of Magic Circle Mime Company, and it’s at Conexus Arts Centre at 2:30 p.m. Tix are $20.
To whet your appetite, here’s an excerpt from Mozart’s Symphony #41.
