Pick of the Day: Sweet

Two of the four founding members of this British glam rock band (vocalist Brian Connelly and drummer Mick Tucker) are no longer with us. But the group, led by original bassist Steve Priest, continues to tour. For rock fans of a certain vintage, Sweet will always hold a special place in their hearts for the 1974 album Desolation Boulevard  which really put the band on the map in North America.

Tonight, Sweet is in town to play a show at the Casino Regina Lounge. Doors are at 8 p.m., and tickets are $30, $35. And to rekindle a few memories for those who might be going here’s vintage video of Sweet performing “Fox on the Run”:

  1. I don’t trust no band that’s led by the bass player unless it’s Phil Lynott:

    From Wikipedia:

Brian Connolly died at the age of 51 on 9 February 1997 from liver failure and repeated heart attacks, attributed to his 1970s and early 1980s chronic alcoholism. Mick Tucker subsequently died on 14 February 2002 from leukaemia, aged 54.
