In the past few years, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have received significantly more bad press than good as the organization struggles to live up to the sterling reputation it once enjoyed in our society. Of course, like a lot of other instances ie the Church, politics, Boy Scouts, amateur and professional sports; that reputation was highly idealized and unrealistic. So it’s no surprise that news of scandals tied to personal and professional misconduct occasionally surface.

The one aspect of the Mounties that still engenders universal respect is the horses that the force uses for a variety of ceremonial occasions. Tonight at Brandt Centre, the famed RCMP Musical Ride will be performing in honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. Show time is 7 p.m., and tickets range from $38.75-$43.75.
