Pick Of The Day: New Country Rehab

This alt-country band is based in Toronto. The four members, John Showman (vocals, fiddle), James Robertson (guitar), Ben Whiteley (bass) and Roman Tomé (drums), were all established session musicians in the city prior to forming their own group. Tonight they’re in town to play a show at the Exchange. Tickets are $15.

To give you a taste of their music here’s video from 2011 of the band performing their song “Angel of Death”:

  1. Since I wrote this blurb I’ve had a chance to listen to New Country Rehab’s new album Ghost of Your Charms a few times. It’s got a fair bit of kick to it in a country-rock sort of way.
