Pick of the Day (Tomorrow Edition): Metric

This should be an interesting experiment. Typically, you’d expect a band like Metric, which is touring in support of their fifth full-length Synthetica which was released in June, to play Saskatoon instead of Regina as far as Saskatchewan gigs go.

Not only are they playing Regina, they’re doing a show Friday night at the 6000 seat Brandt Centre. It’s a bit of a gamble, perhaps. But tickets, at $29.50 and $45, are reasonably priced. And they are being backed up by another relatively high profile Canadian band Stars, who were in town in August to play a main stage show at the Regina Folk Festival.

Here’s hoping that everything goes well. And to whet the appetitie of anyone who is planning to go to tomorrow’s show, here’s the video for “Youth Without Youth” off Metric’s latest album:

  1. Good on Metric for playing here!

Bad on the yokel radio station that is apprently the “sponser” for this band’s show, but has yet to play song 1 of their music…LOL.

  2. We have a cover story on Metric with a Stars sidebar in our Nov. 15 issue that comes out later today (and should be posted on-line by noon).

  3. @ Ron: Totally, I was thinking that too. How can the Wolf sponsor a concert for a band they never, ever play? It would be like the Regina Chamber of Commerce sponsoring the “revitalization break” portion of the Sask Federation of Labour conference, or vice versa.
