Art and censorship has been in the news a lot lately. In this film, which screens tonight at the RPL Theatre at 9 p.m., James Franco stars as the famed counter-culture poet Allen Ginsberg (pictured).

According to advance publicity, Howl doesn’t qualify as a conventional biopic. But it does address the trial in San Francisco that Ginsberg endured after being charged with obscenity following the publication of his most famous poem in 1956.
