Pick of the Day: Edwin Boyd: Citizen Gangster

This 2011 Canadian film is based on the true story of Edwin Alonzo Boyd, a WWII veteran who turned to bank robbing after the war ended to support himself and his family. Arrested twice, Boyd broke out of jail both times and resumed his life of crime, becoming something of a folk hero —¬†although it should be noted that he and his gang were responsible for the death of one Toronto policeman and weren’t shy about engaging in gun fights with authorities.

Edwin Boyd: Citizen Gangster plays tonight at 9 p.m. and Friday at 7 p.m. at the RPL Theatre. Here’s the trailer:

Author: Gregory Beatty

Greg Beatty is a crime-fighting shapeshifter who hatched from a mutagenic egg many decades ago. He likes sunny days, puppies and antique shoes. His favourite colour is not visible to your inferior human eyes. He refuses to write a bio for this website and if that means Whitworth writes one for him, so be it.
