Pick of the Day (Tomorrow Edition): Aida

The ultimate would be to see a performance of Verdi’s opera (which is set in ancient Egypt) at the Giza pyramids complete with a live elephant and other exotic African animals. Still, I imagine the New York Metropolitan Opera does it up pretty good too. And the broadcast is in HD.

That’s how I blurbed this live broadcast from New York in the 14 Days Top Six in our Dec. 13 issue. It goes Saturday at 11:55 a.m. at the Galaxy Theatre. To give you a taste of what an in situ production of Aida looks like here’s a photographic montage from a 2010 performance.
