Like Father, Like Son

Directed by Hirokazu Kore-Eda, this 2013 drama from Japan was awarded the Jury Prize at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. It concerns a Japanese couple named Ryota and Midori who get a call from the hospital one day informing them that when their son was born six years ago a huge mistake was made and the boy ended up being switched with a boy born to another couple. That forces the couple, Ryota in particular, to examine their feelings toward the boy they thought was their son, plus also grapple with the reality of meeting their natural son.

Like Father, Like SonĀ screens at the RPL Theatre Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Friday and Sunday at 9 p.m. Here’s the trailer:
