Four In The Afternoon: Who Cares, Its Sunny!

4 in the Afternoon1 OIL EMBARGO The EU is banning the import of Iranian oil because of controversy surrounding the country’s nuclear programme. Given the direct link between a so-called nuclear threat and oil incentives, it is no surprise that the US supports these sanctions.

2 BACHMANN OUT Republican candidate Michele Bachmann announced that she was withdrawing from the presidential nomination race earlier today. At today’s news conference she even managed to drop the “Obamacare” bomb one last time.

3 QUEEN OF CONSTRUCTION Regina has broken its all-time record for construction permits in 2011. This comes as no surprise to anyone who lived, worked or frequented the downtown area in 2011. Road rage anyone?

4 ITS HOT! Most importantly, Regina residents can look forward to a gorgeous couple days to start the new year.

A MESSAGE TO OUR READERS The coronavirus pandemic is a moment of reckoning for our community. We’re all hurting. It’s no different at Prairie Dog, where COVID-19 has wiped out advertisements for events, businesses and restaurants as Regina and Saskatchewan hunker down in quarantine. As an ad-supported newspaper already struggling in a destabilized media landscape, this is devastating. We’re hoping you, our loyal readers, can help fill in the gap so Prairie Dog can not only continue to exist but even expand our coverage — both in print and online. Please consider donating, either one-time or, even better, on a monthly basis.

We believe Prairie Dog's unique voice is needed, now more than ever. For 27 years, this newspaper has been a critical part of Regina’s social, cultural and democratic infrastructure. Don’t let us fade away. There’s only one Prairie Dog. If it’s destroyed, it’s never coming back.

  1. It may be four in the afternoon and sunny, but it’s certainly not “ITS.”
Use “IT’S” instead and people will think you’re smart.
