Exciting Goings-On At City Square Plaza

Cinema Under StarsDespicable Me is screening tonight as part of Cinema Under the Stars at City Square Plaza. It’s a GORGEOUS night out and people are flocking down for the movie which will start at dusk.

  1. Wow, that’s probably the most successful non-Farmer’s Market event in the history of the plaza, which going on anecdotal evidence to from everyone from south-end middle -class retirees who never go downtown to former-plaza-cheerleaders who work downtown and now hate it, to working class dudes in Glencairn, has been one big, poorly-managed, irredeemable “downtown is wrecked forever” flop.

I go downtown and it just strikes me as this remote no-go-zone.

And I guess it didn’t help that Harvard Developments was allowed to buy out its commitment to providing street-level commerce on the first floor of its new building, since that was a big part of DT redevelopment.

  2. would love to see a steaming cam covering the plaza. Edmonton has one 24/7 on Churchill Square. Does PD have a view from their office??
