Curb My Enthusiasm

Curb (Victoria)Got to say the curb on the north side of Victoria Ave. between Scarth and Lorne St. along Victoria Park is beat to shit. Besides the shot above, and the one after the jump (click both to enlarge), there’s plenty of other chunks ripped out here and there.

  1. Couldn’t agree more Gregory!! This City needs to get it’s SHIT TOGETHER. It blows my mind how they feel it’s fiscally responsible to develop a $300M Stadium, virtually identical to what we already have, $10-25 on a Plaza that destroyed the Downtown “community”, and so many other “priorities” that helps out the construction and development industry. Yet, the streets are literally crumbling around us, sometimes swallowing cars, trucks, vans and even City Work Trucks whole.

Sidewalks are torn to shit, residential streets are in such disrepair that if residents want them done (which are 40 years past their useful life), they are willing to fork out up to TEN GRAND of their own personal money to get this shit done. Sinkholes are developing across the City, and the City’s best excuse is the oh so horrible winter we had. Yep, that was one badass winter compared to last year. NOT. Water mains are bursting left right and centre, leaving homeowners sometimes without water for weeks, and slowly eroding the soil around them which in months creates these sinkholes.

But…it’s okay though. We’ve got much more development coming of “affordable housing” – you know, that special Made-In-Regina version where “affordable” is somehow deemed to be “market rate”. Ummm, yeah. Thank GOD for the Housing First initiative that the Feds are demanding the City follow. Oh shit. YMCA is the sole entity in charge of those funds. Where is the City when it matters most? Oh, right, giving tax breaks to giant corporations, developer buddies, and Fiascos city-wide, while those that truly do need a hand-up are told to pound sand when they propose ideas that might take away a percentage point off of developers profit margin. FOR SHAME people, how DARE you think socially responsibly?
