Hey! Ever wanted to do more than just heckle City Hall from the sidelines? Here’s your chance. Real, live city committees and consultative groups are looking for new members and, just like in those delightfully funny Police Academy movies starring The Mighty Steve Gutenberg, anyone can join.
You just have to send in an application to the city clerk’s office and, if selected, you could soon be contributing to the Environment Advisory Committee, the Crime Prevention Advisory Committee, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, or the…………… wait for it…………… Cemeteries Departmental Consultative Group!
There are also 10 positions available on the Youth Advisory Committee. These are open to anyone between the ages of 14 and 18 and, all kidding aside, are a great way for youth to get engaged with local politics.
More info on the city’s website. The application deadline is April 9.
