Per Sonatori is a local group of musicians who specialize in music from the Baroque period. That style was en vogue in the 17th and 18th century and spanned visual art, architecture, music and other creative disciplines. The style manifest itself in different ways in each discipline, of course, but it could generally be characterized as being elaborate or ornate.
Not only does Per Sonatori specialize in music from the Baroque era, they also use period instruments that add an extra layer of authenticity to their performance.
On Sunday, Nov. 1 Per Sonatori will present its second event of the 2015-16 season. As you can see from the above poster the performance goes at Knox-Met United Church at 3 p.m. I don’t have any information on which composers will be on the program, but Henry Purcell, Antonio Vivaldi, George Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach are some of the composers associated with the Baroque era.
