Okay, I admit it, there was a pretty juvenile punctuation error in Wednesday’s Four in The Afternoon. It’s – not its -hard to be entirely regretful about the mistake given the caliber of blog spat that ensued. This one is for you, Barb.

Depending on which style manual you follow, it could be “calibre”.
Thanks for the opening! I’d like to remind PD readers that the Regina Symphony Orchestra Booksale runs from April 12 – 21, at the Golden Mile. Among its many items of interest (gently used books, sheet music, CDs, DVDs), the sale will feature copies of “Eats, Shoots & Leaves” (Lynne Truss) and other guides to writing good and effective English. Supplies are limited, so get there early or be disappointed!
Barb: we’d use “calibre”. Also have you read Lapsing Into A Comma by Bill Walsh? It’s a personal favourite.
I haven’t read that one, but I’m pretty sure I saw at least one copy come in as a donation to the RSO booksale.
And in the spirit of the attached picture, there will be many fine cookbooks to be found at the RSO Book & Music Sale as well.
I can safely say hundreds of cookbooks, with more coming in all the time.
