The flute, as wielded by Regina musician Marie-Noelle Berthelet (pictured), will be at centre stage in this Regina Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Concert.
Berthelet is a regular member of the RSO, and also performs with the Regina Baroque-period ensemble Per Sonatori. The RSO concert is subtitled Marie-Noelle Goes Irish, and will feature two compositions by Dublin-born Charles Stanford (1852-1924) titled Irish Rhapsody No. 1 and Symphony No. 3 “Irish”. Also on the program is “Linen and Lace” by Bill Whelen, who in 1994 created a work called “Riverdance” that later became the well-known Celtic dance production of the same name.
The RSO Masterworks Concert is Saturday, March 12 at Conexus Arts Centre with curtain at 8 p.m. You can find more information on the RSO website.
