To help set the stage for the 88th Academy Awards which go from Los Angeles on Sunday Feb. 28, the Regina Symphony Orchestra is presenting its annual salute to the music of cinema Lights, Camera… the Oscars on Saturday Feb. 27 at Conexus Arts Centre.
You can read more about the concert on the RSO website. Victor Sawa is the conductor, and guest artists are Marie Danvers and Sean McLaughlin. Danvers is a vocalist, and McLaughlin an actor, and they’ll assist the RSO in performing selections from classic film scores.
As always, the audience is encouraged to glam it up to get in the Hollywood spirit. Although how the actual awards will go this year with all the misgivings about the lack of diversity among the nominees is anyone’s guess.
