When I was growing up my mom was a big Johnny Cash fan, so as far as musical influences go, he was one of my earliest.

From June 1-12, the Globe Theatre is presenting this musical based on the life and career of the legendary Man In Black. The musical by Richard Maltby is adapted from a Broadway production, and the Globe is staging it at the Casino Regina Show Lounge.

It’s not a touring production, though — at least, not yet. The Globe’s assembled the cast and put the production together, and after the casino run is over it will be touring the show provincially in 2016.

Curtain each night is at 8 p.m., and there’s a 3 p.m. matinee on June 6. The show is 19+, too, so no minors. You can find out more on the Globe website. And to close here’s video of Cash performing “I Walk The Line” at San Quentin in 1969
