Parlez-vous francais?
If you do, and even if you don’t, you might want to check out this concert which goes Sunday March 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Au Carrefour des Plaines (3850 Hillsdale) in Regina. The concert is being presented by the Association Canadienne-Francais de Regina.
Willows (a.k.a. Genevieve Toupin) is a Manitoba-born folk/pop singer who currently lives in Montreal. She started in the music industry straight out of high school, and has been performing for around 15 years now. My high school/university French is rusty, but I believe from scanning her bio on the ACFR website that she collaborated in the creation of the Danse Lhasa Danse project that New Dance Horizons and other community partners presented in Regina in January 2014.
The concert is part of a winter carnival that the ACFR is hosting that includes an outdoor festival at Quatre-Vents of Monseigneur de Laval (1440 9th Avenue North) on Saturday March 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. followed by curling and live music at the Tartan Curling Club. More details on that can be found on the ACFR website.
Tickets for Willows are Adults $15 advance/$20 door, Students $10, Children 12 and under free. To close, here’s the video for Willows’ 2014 song “Tout ca passera”:
