So who’s up to party tonight?
If you are, and you’re a fan of rap/hip hop, 23-year-old Saskatchewan-based performer Kyriel “Pimpton” Roberts is doing a free show at O’Hanlon’s Pub.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Pimpton’s been kicking out the jams (to borrow an old school phrase) since he was 12. He released his first album The Newer Testament in 2008. Subsequent releases include The Deal Breaker: Manifest Destiny (February 2013) and Killa Call Me Killa Vol. 1 (September 2013).
He’s also performed at festivals such SXSW, JunoFEST, (Prairie) Cannabis Cup and Canadian Music Week in Toronto, and collaborated with some well-known names in the biz including Andre Nickatina from San Francisco. “Little Darrell” was the name of the track they did, and it got some pretty heavy play on MuchMusic.
Pimpton will be performing with Ursa Maja, Ageless and DJ Disspare tonight at O’Hanlon’s, and to close here’s the video for “Little Darrell”:
