Anya Liftig The Human FactorAn offshoot of Queer City Cinema, this queer-themed performance festival is celebrating its fourth year in 2015. Each festival has a particular theme, and this year it’s Making It, Difficult. According to the Performatorium website what that involves is work that is physically/mentally difficult for the artist to perform and/or politically and ethically difficult for the audience to watch.

Performatorium 2015 runs in Regina from Thursday, Jan. 22 to Saturday, Jan. 24. Several venues are being used including the Artesian, Artful Dodger, the Fifth Parallel Gallery at the University of Regina, and Neutral Ground. Featured will be performance artists from London, Los Angeles, Toronto, Brooklyn and Regina.

In addition to the evening performances, there’s also artist talks and panel discussions happening. You can find a complete festival schedule at the above-noted website. There’s some fairly explicit imagery and scenarios in many of the performances, so viewer discretion is advised.

Also, I believe the plan is to do additional coverage in the Jan. 22 issue of Prairie Dog. So stay tuned for that. The above still, by the way, is from Anya Liftig’s performance The Human Factor which goes at Neutral Ground (1856 Scarth) on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 22.
