This is the first in what’s projected to be a monthly series of film and video programs called Independent Visions. The series co-presented by the Dunlop Art Gallery, Saskatchewan Filmpool and the University of Regina’s Department of Film. It will be held at the RPL Film Theatre Monday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.
This program will feature short films by members of the Winnipeg Film Group. Founded as a co-op in 1974, the WFG has been instrumental in the development of a pretty strong film scene in that city. John Paizs, Guy Madden, Shawna Dempsey & Lorri Millan and Deco Dawson are some of the notables who have been members of the WFG over the years.
I’m not sure which filmmakers will be on the bill for this program, but again, it’s Monday at RPL Theatre at 7 p.m. To close, here’s the first few minutes of Paizs’ 1985 classic feature film Crime Wave:
