The Saskatchewan Arts Board announced today that it had accepted the resignation of executive director David Kyle (pictured).
Jeremy Morgan, a former CEO of the SAB in the early ’00s was named interim CEO. He recently completed a similar stint as acting director at the MacKenzie Art Gallery until Anthony Kiendl was hired and took over at the gallery in May 2014, and he’ll head the board while it conducts a nation-wide search for a new CEO.
No reason was given for Kyle’s resignation. But the SAB press release did note that the board and its directors were in the final stages of approving and beginning to implement a new strategic plan that once in place will guide the new CEO, board management and staff.
The press release spoke positively about the value of the arts to society, and said that the SAB was dedicated to growing the arts in Saskatchewan. With the success of Creative Saskatchewan on the marketing and promotion side of the arts equation, a vibrant SAB with a mandate to fund the creation and production of quality art is a great fit. So I guess we’ll see what comes of the new strategic plan.
