Here’s a heads up about a screening that’s happening at the MacKenzie Gallery on Tuesday, Sept. 9 of a new documentary by Jan Narwina-Zarzycki on veteran Regina artist Wilf Perreault.
Also a well-known educator in the city, Perreault has had a career-long fascination with an aspect of our urban environment that typically doesn’t get too much care and attention — the back alley (that’s his painting Guiding Light pictured above).
The free screening is at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and it’s a prelude to an exhibition of Perreault’s back alley paintings that opens at the gallery on Sept. 26.
The exhibition (titled In The Alley) is curated by MacKenzie curator Timothy Long, and includes over 40 paintings and watercolours dating back to the 1970s. On Sept. 26 there will be an opening reception at 7:30 p.m., then on Sept. 27 there will be a conversation between the artist and curator at 2 p.m. along with a book launch and signing.
