Above is a photo of the remains of a tree that I blogged about in May whose expanding root system seemed to be wreaking havoc on a stretch of sidewalk on the southeast corner of Victoria Park along Scarth St. In the linked photo, it’s the one with the band on it as seen from the south.
In addition to removing the tree the city has installed a metal brace to keep the paving stones on the park border in line. And overall, Victoria Park is pretty beat up after the tough winter, spring and summer we’ve had. After the jump there’s a photo of the southwest corner with sand spread out over the dead areas.
