Based in Victoria, this quintet got their start performing at open mics and busking. Initially a two piece with a strong flamenco vibe, the group has expanded the scope of their music to include bluegrass and roots with the addition of three other musicians who play an assortment of instruments.

Current members of the band are Ian Griffiths (Vocals, Accordion), Kurt Loewen (Vocals, Guitar), Paul Wolda (Percussion, Vocals), Mack Jonsson (Fiddle, Vocals) and Keith Rodger (Double Bass).

Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra performs regularly at festivals across Canada, and isn’t afraid to get political with some of the causes they support related to the environment, indigenous rights and youth at risk. Sunday (June 15), as part of a cross country tour they’re in town to play a show at the Exchange that’s being presented by Grassroots Regina (doors at 8 p.m., tickets $20 advance and $25 at the door.)
