Sled Island goes June 18-22 in Calgary. Last year, the festival was pretty much washed out by the huge rain storm and flood the city had. Concurrent with that happening, there was a mini-festival in Regina called Toboggan Island that was set up to take advantage of some of the bands that were passing through the area on their way to Calgary by giving them a chance to play a tune-up show in Regina.

This year, the same promoter is back with another satellite festival called Queen City Riot. It’s happening June 13 and 14 at the SCES Club and the Exchange and features a mix of local and touring bands.

Here’s how the line-up breaks down. Friday beginning at 7:30 p.m. the following bands will be appearing at the SCES Club: Gutless, Good Girls, the Jump Off, the Faps and White Women. On the Exchange side, the music starts at 8 p.m. with the Snake Oil Salesmen, Homo Monstrous, Bermuda Love, Kav & Clay and Def 3/Factor playing.

On Saturday, the start times at the SCES Club and the Exchange are the same. The first band at each venue is still to be announced, but Birch Hills, Weak Ends, Failed States and Withdrawal are also at the Club while the Slurs, the Solids, Dead Ranch and KEN Mode are at the Exchange.

Tickets each night are $30, or a festival pass goes for $55. You can find more information here. To give you a sense of what to expect here’s the latest video by the Winnipeg hardcore band KEN Mode called “The Terror Pulse”:
