Chad VanGaalen is a man of many talents. Not only is he a respected musician who typically self-produces his  music from the comfort of his Calgary home, he’s also an accomplished illustrator and animator who does most most of the art for his album covers and music videos.

In late April, VanGaalen released his latest album Shrink Dust. Advance publicity suggested it would have a country vibe with a pedal steel guitar featured prominently. The album is also apparently intended to serve as a bit of a soundtrack for an animated Sci-Fi film that VanGaalen has in production.

Thursday night, as part of a North American tour VanGallen is in town to play a show at the Exchange. Sharing the bill is the Calgary punk band Viet Cong which contains ex-members of Women who have collaborated with VanGaalen before.
