Raised in Saskatoon, painter Sheila Kernan now resides in Calgary. Friday she has a new exhibition opening in Regina at the Assiniboia Gallery called Lights, Camera, Action.
I’m not sure what the exact subject matter will be but in the past Kernan has produced brightly coloured urban landscapes like one pictured above (title “The Day Is Over”).
Kernan has done a lot of travelling across Canada, through the United States and in Japan, and cities are a definite interest of hers. But she also does more traditional wilderness landscapes — albeit in the same impressionistic style.
There’s an opening reception for Kernan at the Assiniboia (2266 Smith St.) from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, and the exhibition will run until June 21.
