As far as musicians in Canada go, Alysha Brilla has a pretty exotic pedigree. She has family ties to the African country of Tanzania, and her music is a fusion of pop and roots. Last August, she released her debut album In My Head. It features an eclectic mix of instruments including drums, bass, guitar, keys, sax, trumpet, congas, and djembe.

Overall, she’s got a pretty diverse artistic background, with plenty of collaborations to her credit. That includes a recent residency at a trendy restaurant in Toronto called the Amsterdam Bicycle Club.

On Thursday, Brilla will be in Regina for a show at Creative City Centre (1843 Hamilton). Doors are at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $10. To give you a sense of what to expect, here’s the video for the title track off her album “In My Head”:
