It’s a busy Monday music-wise in Regina. That’s partly due to it being St. Patrick’s Day. Here’s a rundown of what’s happening that’s tied specifically to Kiss Me I’m Irish goings-on, along with two other gigs that are more in the vein of straight concerts.
First off, Bushwakker is hosting a party that will feature performances by theĀ Tilted Kilts, Daniel Whitmore, the Prairie Gael School of Dance and the Regina Police Services Pipes & Drums Band. Things get going at 6 p.m., and there’s a $5 cover charge. At McNally’s Tavern, the Johnny McCuaig Band is playing. Finally, at O’Hanlon’s Pub the Pile of Bones Brass Band will be in the house along with a few hundred kegs of Guinness.
As for non-St. Patrick’s Day gigs the American pop-dance group Electric Six is at the Exchange. Backing them up is a Toronto rock band called the Mohrs. Tickets are $15. And at the Artful Dodger, the string group the Fretless are playing. Winners of 2012 Canadian Folk Music Awards forĀ Ensemble of the Year and Instrumental Group of the Year, the Fretless are composed of Karrnnel Sawitsky (fiddle), Ivonne Hernandez (fiddle), Eric Wright (cello) and Trent Freeman (fiddle). Tickets are $15 advance, and $20 door.
To close, here’s video of the Fretless performing a song called “June Tune”:
