Hot on the heels of the battle that’s underway in Calgary Signal Hill for the Conservative nomination in the 2015 federal election between sitting MP Rob Anders and former PC MLA Ron Liepart, there’s another scandal brewing that’s forced Dimitri Soudas, Harper’s hand picked man, and his former director of communications, to resign as Conservative Party executive director.
His sin? He interfered in the nomination proceedings in the new Toronto-area riding of Oakville-North Burlington on behalf of his fiancee and sitting Conservative MP Eve Adams (pictured). Currently, she represents Mississauga-Brampton South. Next election, she wants to run in Oakville-North Burlington. But there’s another candidate — chiropractor Natalia Lishchyna — who enjoys strong support.
According to this Toronto Star report, Soudas made a failed bid to be on the riding executive last fall, and when that didn’t work, he tried to exert his influence in other ways that were deemed inappropriate.
