Last week, allegations of conflict of interest were levied against former B.C. Conservative MP Chuck Strahl over his sweet post-retirement arrangement that saw him act as a paid lobbyist for Enbridge while simultaneously heading the Security Intelligence Review Committee that provides civilian oversight for the Canadian Security Intelligence Review Agency.

Today, Strahl announced that he would step down as head of SIRC to avoid distracting, in his words, from “the important work SIRC does everyday in ensuring the security of Canadians.” You can read more in this CBC report.
