This concert was announced with a fair bit of fanfare in early December. It’s a special four-city tour featuring Neil Young and jazz chanteuse Diana Krall. The Regina stop is at Conexus Arts Centre next Friday at 7:30 p.m. Other locations are Massey Hall in Toronto (Jan. 12), Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg (Jan. 16) and Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary (Jan. 19).

The proceeds from the four shows Young and Krall are playing will go to support the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Legal Defense Fund. The treaty in question is Treaty Eight, and the legal wrangle relates to land rights, resource development in oil-obsessed Alberta and the desire of the First Nation to have greater input into the future well-being of their traditional territory.
