Born in Brooks, Alberta, Jolene Higgins spent time as a child in Independence, Kansas before moving back to Canada as a teenager. Under the stage name Little Miss Higgins she’s wowed audiences from her home base in Nokomis with her contemporary take on classic blues.
Earlier this year she released the album Bison Ranch Recording Sessions. The album marks a bit of a departure for her as in place of long-time musical partner Foy Taylor she’s performing with the Winnipeg Five which Canadian music fans might recognize as The F-Holes — a Winnipeg-based blues/roots band.
Tonight Little Miss Higgins and her band are in town to play a show at the Exchange as part of the Regina Folk Festival Concert Series. Doors are at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $19 advance and $25 door.
